My typing speed?
This is a very common phrase that is widely used in technology nowadays especially for computer users. This is to measure how fast a person can type number of words in a given span of time. This is usually measured in the number of words generated per minute (WPM).
I started typing when I was around nine years old with the use of typewriter. My father owns a typewriter, aside from the one he has on his office desk. He also has a portable typewriter that is very small where you can carry it around anywhere. I once used it when I was in high school for a school project. That was very useful indeed. Though that time computers are already avaiable, I still prefer to use the typewriter since it was easier. Also, I don't know yet how to use the computer.
It was from then on that I practiced typing. And then eventually the speed increases. I remember one time I used to cover my hands positioned on the keyboard with a cloth and try to type a very famous pangram, a phrase that contains all the letters of the English alphabet.
"The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog near the bank of the river."
I entered college without any basic knowledge about computers. And guess what college program I take? Information Technology! What a challenge! The only thing I have is the typing skills I acquired from using the ordinary typewriter. And that saves me a lot! I had a typing speed of 40 wpm, and consistently up during our computer 101 laboratory lessons (and it includes some high school courses! But it was just typing skills anyway).
Now, even my team leader is amazed on my typing speed. I beat him up! Hahaha peace!
My typing speed? s-e-c-r-e-t :)

Haha very cool! I remember when i was in first year high school, hmm not being "hambog" but i was the fastest typist. Uhm, we had this typing program in the computer and some of my classmates wanted me to assist them. Having a typewriter at home is really an advantage to think it's hard unlike with the computer keyboard. My father was a typist. When i was in first year high school, that was my first time to touch or to use the computer.
ReplyDeleteWhen I worked as an encoder in IT Park, i have 63wpm with 97% accuracy but my wpm really changes so it goes beyond that.
